Stripped-Romper2

I am a sucker for a romper, it is like an adult onesie that is acceptable to wear out in public. It isn’t the most user friendly outfit when you are trying to go to the restroom with any sense of urgency but otherwise they are super comfortable and can be flattering if you get the right fit for your body type.  This romper is by Olive + Oak and is currently on sale!  I paired it with our Brooklyn Foldover in Camel with Navy Dots!  The Sunnies are some of my favorite of all time, they are by Ray-Ban.  We picked them up when we were in New Orleans last month on a work trip!

// LUNCH BREAK//

I have to confess that I am not very good about eating lunch.  I often find myself forgetting to eat or losing track of time and then it’s dinner.  I don’t keep a lot of food in the pantry because I don’t care for processed food (as in I love processed food but I try not to buy it at the grocery store) so there isn’t a lot of easy grab and go snacks unless I grab it from my fridge.  While struggling with food laziness I discovered that I can make a quick lunch that is healthy and filling.  Let me introduce you to one of my favorite EASY foods/drinks that makes for an easy lunch and you don’t even have to chew.

The Strawberry, Mango, Banana, Spinach, OJ smoothie is one of the easiest and most delicious smoothies in the land.  Other then possibly breaking a sweat while pealing the mango, the rest is pretty easy and already done for you.

Ingredients:

  • one sliced mango
  • a handful or two of frozen strawberries
  • one banana
  • one or two large handfuls of organic spinach (the more the better, you can’t taste it so keep stuffing more in)
  • add organic orange juice or water (for a healthier option) until the smoothie is blended to the consistence  you want.  I use a few cups of orange juice.

Directions:

  • add the ingredients from softest to hardest in a blender (spinach, banana, mango, strawberry)
  • add your liquid (orange juice or water)
  • blend until the spinach is pulverized
  • pour
  • enjoy

I often make more then I need and leave the pitcher in the fridge for later that day or for another day.  Smoothies can be fun to experiment with because you can add almost any fruit or vegetable you want to them.  If you have celery or kale or apples or lemons leftover from a recipe put them in your smoothie.  Play around with recipes and find out what your favorite combinations are.

//TRAVEL// NEW ORLEANS

Since forever traveling has been something I treasure.  Anytime we can slip away for a bit I am completely satisfied.  I don’t care where we are going I just like to explore and see new things.  This past week we traveled to New Orleans for Hunter’s annual work conference.  I had been to New Orleans one other time to board a cruise ship but I never really gotten to see the city.  This trip was a very sweet surprise, New Orleans had so much to offer and so many personalities.  I was delighted by all the corners of the city and all the faces that so proudly call New Orleans home.

The food had to be up there as some of the best we have ever had.   We went to Stanley for a late brunch.  This place was recommended by a local so we couldn’t pass it up.  They served us some of the best eggs benedict in the land, bacon and cheese grits, and creole breakfast potatoes with a pancake for dessert.  Right down the street was the famous Cafe Du Monde so we couldn’t pass up their Beignets and Coffee Au Lait.  We went right in and sat ourselves where we were quickly served our Beignets.  I heard later that day that the line was wrapped around the building so I was thankful we went when we did.

Any excuse to purchase a mask was totally ok with me and the last night of the conference there was a Masquerade Ball so of course we went exploring for the perfect mask.  My sister-in-law and I picked up a really fun feathered mask which I shared on Instagram Stories the night of.  Hunter landed on a mask that revealed half of his pretty face, thankfully he did not wear this scary thing captured above.  My brother-in-law wore an American flag mask (a man after my own heart ???).

New Orleans is to good and doesn’t get enough credit for all the good things happening there.  I wanted to bundle up all the personalities and dump them in my city.  Of course there is craziness, which we dipped our toe in, but you can also enjoy some of the best food, drinks and music in this country.  Until next time NOLA!

//RANCH WEEKEND//

This past weekend we took off for a Ranch near French Lick, Indiana.  Over the past couple of years we have planned a get away for a group of friends that started in high school but has grown over the years as we have gotten married and children started to arrive.  I met this group of gentleman in 2003 when I started dating my husband.  It has been a real privilege to watch all of them marry up 😉 and start having babies.  Because Hunter and I don’t have our own children it is always a treat to spend time with little humans and soak of their sweetness for a few days.

It always feels nostalgic when leaving weekends like this because I know next time we are all in the same space again time will have passed and more will have changed.  My parents always used to say how fast time was going.  When I was little all I wanted to do was grow up faster, now that I am 3o all I want to do is freeze time and savor every little moment.
